The Beginning of a New Decade
Jan., 2010. As the new year begins,
and we see what can only be described as the continuing march of "progressive socialism," we would like to remind you of the
words of the man considered to be the patriarch of the American socialist and American Communist movements, Norman Thomas.
In his own words: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism,’
they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day, America will be a socialist nation without knowing
how it happened." And more recently he observed that, "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for
the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform." These are very revealing words that we should
remember. We have been warned.
Reliable information has come to us about yet another recent attempt to
bomb an American airliner. This failed attempt has been described by passenger witnesses but the "lame"-stream media
has yet to pick up on it. We are attempting to get more details on this, in spite of the information blackout.
Obama promised us an open process and what has happened? Just the opposite.
And so we find the Senate/House committee for the resolution of a final healthcare bill, behind closed doors. Less "politically
correct" media is willing to cover it. Even C-Span tells us they are willing to air all the hearings and meetings.
Why won’t the leadership in Washington allow the open process we were promised? Perhaps, as with so many other
promises, that was "campaigning" and this is "reality"?
Now, Michael Connelly, a retired attorney and Constitutional Law professor, has
managed to read the entire text of the House healthcare bill (HB 3200). Who knows what the final end product will be,
but this is what he says about this bill. "The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where
senior citizens and other classes of citizens are involved, and provides free health care for illegal immigrants and free
abortion services." He also believes it will, "...eventually force private insurance companies out of business,
and put everyone into a government run system." He also suggests we will find our personal healthcare decisions being
made by federal bureaucrats. He also points out that, "...Congress doesn’t have any authority to legislate
in most of these areas." His disquieting conclusion is that, "If this law or a similar one is adopted, major
portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed." Oh yes, there is much more,
but you get the idea.
We have brought you the facts and figures concerning our economy and our debt,
and it is authenticated data. And the facts and figures keep piling up in a nightmare of fiscal irresponsibilities.
Some of these disquieting revelations include: The $130 billion California debt. The current $12 trillion national
debt. The $106 trillion in Federal unfunded liabilities. And the figures go on and on like this. Many of
these figures have now escalated into the trillions. Do you recall what we’ve told you about that? If you
went into business at the time of Christ and lost 1 million dollars every single day, from then until
now, you wouldn’t have managed to reach even one trillion dollars. I know it’s frightening but that’s
the way it is.
Events have finally forced a few changes in the President’s attitude about
at least a few things. Although the initial reaction to the Christmas day "bloomer bomber" was to suggest that it might
be some sort of independent, isolated incident and Janet Napolitano was initially inclined to announce that "the system
worked," strong public reaction seems to have forced some critical rethinking. Let us hope the President’s
new words are going to be more than just words. Of course no one was fired and the unprecedented stand to try enemy
combatants in civilian courts rather than in the more historically correct military courts — that still stands. Also,
if we are at war, as the President now says, why haven’t we declared war against this known adversary that has attacked
us and continues to attack us? I guess we’ll just have to see what develops.
A recent Washington Post headline states, "U.S. Job Loss Report Is Blow To Still
Fragile Recovery." The related story reports that, "The job market remained in a deep funk in December, according
to a government report..." It was also noted that, "...employers view the economic recovery as too weak and too fragile
to begin hiring again on any large scale." This is understandable when you consider that 85 thousand more jobs were lost
this last month and that actual unemployment is now 17.3% when you factor in the many who have finally given up trying to
find a job and when you consider those who are now working only part-time. And what’s ahead for us? The
Washington Times reports that, "Many private economic forecasters are projecting that the U.S. unemployment rate, which
has more than doubled since the recession began in late 2007, will continue rising..." It has also been suggested
that more than 200,000 jobs can be expected to be lost in 2010 and beyond, under new climate control laws, executive acts
and EPA rulings. We have a lot to look forward to.
We are hearing increased rumbling around the nation about the possibility of a
third party. It comes at a time in which there is also a growing movement toward more independence for our states from
our massive central government. However, a conservative third party can be expected to create divisions that can only
weaken sincere efforts to regain the strong and valued nation we once were. Such efforts have historically produced
division and ultimate defeat. Changing the two major existing parties may prove to be a much more reasonable approach.
It should also be noted that in some areas, such as in Florida, these divisive attempts may have a more sinister motive.
In Florida, a known professional Democrat, with no previous involvement in the operation of the tea party movement, actually
formed a small third party which he named the "Florida Tea Party." This individual then subsequently threatened legal
action against the original Florida tea parties for using the name. It has been suggested that we cannot afford divisions,
legitimate or contrived. They can only spell disaster.
"60 Minutes" reports that, "Terrorism and Homeland Security have been back in
the news the past few weeks, and once again the focus has been on intelligence failures and airport security. But the
easiest way for terrorists to get into the United States may well be across the nation’s porous 2,000 mile border with
Mexico. And it is no secret." Well, finally someone in the so-called "main stream" is willing to admit a problem
that we, and so many others on the right have been talking and writing about for a long time now. It’s about time.
As reported by The Washington Times, "The veteran Justice Department voting
rights section chief who recommended going forward on a civil complaint against members of the New Black Panther Party after
they disrupted a Pennsylvania polling place in last year’s elections has been removed from his post and transferred
to the U.S. attorney’s office in South Carolina." Once again, justice under the new administration is thwarted.
Does anybody seem to care?
The Associated Press, The Washington Post, and a few other papers across the nation
are beginning to report on the infamous deal that was made between the Democrats and their union supporters. Now it
seems that the proposed tax on union members’ high-end healthcare insurance plans will not happen until 2018, while
the rest of us who might also have premium health care plans will not be given that special exemption. That’s
the way it seems it will be, if the bill finally gets passed. Special interests win out once again? We’ll
see.
It would seem the tide is turning. First in Virginia and New Jersey and now
in Massachusetts, the American voters have begun to make it very clear that what we were given is not what they want. For
the first time, it’s a real change. And of course the White House denies that this is a wake-up call and
the Democratic leadership in Congress declares that their loss will not be allowed to change anything. We’ll see.
Next up, Obama’s former Illinois Senate seat, due for a regime change in February? And then it’s a lot more
hard work, culminating in the coming Congressional elections in November. We’ll now have to see how all of this
translates into action.
The financial aspects of the new, massive political corruption in America is staggering.
Earmarks (pork) are still continuing to show up everywhere, with everything from a $150,000 restoration of the Terrytown
New York Music Hall (in an Interior Appropriations bill), to a $500,000 airport terminal replacement way up in Grand Forks,
North Dakota (in a HUD Appropriations bill). And it keeps going on like that, endlessly. And then there was that $787
billion stimulus bill. A George Mason University report shows that grants from that bill, in the amount of $157,028,362,536
were awarded in this first quarter of 2010 and from this it has been calculated that jobs actually created or "saved" averaged
out at a taxpayers’ cost of $245,807.51 per job. And the money was funneled to 436 Congressional districts, to
94 Republican districts and a whopping 152 Democratic districts. And all of this with the surprising disclosure that
a number of districts in at least four states don’t actually exist. And of course there were the Senators who
where "bought off" with huge sums of public money for their districts for their support of the somewhat defunct healthcare
bill. And this sort of thing continues on with enough shameful examples to fill a nice thick book. This is the
change you can believe in?
It would seem that the "left" in America assembles its firing squads in a circle.
That is, many of them are turning on each other. It’s quite a spectacle. And, of course, Obama seems to think
that somehow much of the blame for the loss of the Massachusetts Senate seat goes back to Bush. How he figures that
goes beyond just about any understanding we can imagine. Interesting times, yes?
The negative statistics keep piling up. In 2001 we had a 5.7 trillion dollar debt.
In 2008 it became 10.6 trillion dollars. Now, in 2010 it has ballooned to 14.2 trillion dollars in debt. And,
as of November, 2009, our trade deficit shows an increase to 36.4 billion dollars. And we also find that over 15 million
Americans are still out of work. And where are 3 out of 4 new jobs created? They come from the small business
sector — which, at least so far, has been the most ignored area with regard to serious government attention (not allowing
small business a less restricted and less burdened function). And yes, these figures were all obtained from official
records. It’s what’s really been happening, no matter what the politicians may say.
The CNN "Situation Room" commentator Jack Cafferty seems to have had enough.
Once an Obama supporter, he has recently launched an exceptionally strong attack on Obama and the Democratic legislators
because of their closed reconciliation sessions involved with the healthcare bills. "How dare they!" he said.
"What a far cry from the election, when candidate Obama pledged to ‘broadcast healthcare negotiations on C-SPAN so
the American people can see what the changes are." He continued, noting that, "The Democrats insist this is all
on the up and up, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying ‘there’s never been a more open process for any legislation.’
Really?" One of Cafferty’s final comments: "Here’s hoping the voters remember some of this crap when
the midterm elections roll around later this year."
Obama’s first State of The Union speech has now occurred and here is our
report. In some parts it almost seemed like some sort of resurrected Reagan. It was as though he was back to campaigning
once again — campaigning as a "centrist." And, of course as usual, he once again attempted to present himself
as an outsider — an outsider? If I recall correctly, hasn’t he and his party been in charge in Washington
for a year now? And doesn’t that make them the "insiders"? And what about other things he said? He
and his congress massively raised spending and now he’s saying he’s going to offer a spending freeze?
Oh, and it is my understanding that it won’t even begin until next year and will only effect about 17% of the actual
budget. He also began throwing around all sorts of numbers for those he said are now newly employed. Unfortunately,
we have not been able to substantiate most of his figures (and this is not the first time he has had this problem).
We also see that he still strongly believes in big government driven attempts at solutions. And we also heard him talk
about doing what he seems to think is best for the next generation, without telling us who is going to end up burdened with
the debt thus created. And he wants to strengthen laws concerning hate crimes? What about SEIU violence with racial
slurs that his Justice Department backed away from? And he mentioned the "housing bubble" that burst. But he didn’t
mention how hard he fought in the Senate, with his colleagues, to block the appropriate investigation that could have averted
much of this crisis. And, understandably, he never mentioned the special care and opportunities the terrorists are now
afforded in our civilian courts. And let us not forget how he loves to say that Republicans can only say "no," without
noting how ideas and solutions put forward by Republicans are routinely ignore by the new ruling clan. And another example
of these oversights would be Obama’s new enumerations for energy development and energy self-sufficiency. The
GOP was trying to get the Democrats to consider these very solutions for some time now. Where was he all that
time? Yes, these have been only a few of the many problems with his speech that could have been exposed. But this
should be enough for you to get a fairly good idea about what’s going on here.
"The White House National Security Council recently directed U.S. spy
agencies to lower the priority placed on intelligence collection for China, amid opposition to the policy change from
senior intelligence leaders who feared it would hamper efforts to obtain secrets about Beijing’s military and its cyber-attacks,"
as reported in The Washington Times. Considering the threatening military development and computer attacks involved
with Communist China, it is not surprising that leaders everywhere, from National Intelligence to the C.I.A., have indicated
their deep concern. And why is this happening? A close examination shows us that, since we owe more money to China
than to any other nation and since it amounts to an extremely large figure, we have now become inclined to cast a blind eye
on certain security issues. It could be said that more and more they own us. And this is a natural result of that
very uncomfortable fact. Something to think about.
It would seem that success is now to be penalized and failure rewarded under the
Obama "progressive" ideology. This is the conclusion that is being put forward in many circles. Banks that have
fulfilled their obligations and staved off insolvency now find themselves faced with a future of punishing bank taxes that
then must be passed along to the hapless consumer. And all of this and more while our government has financed failed
auto makers and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which now guarantees around 5 ½ trillion dollars of our mortgages and other debts.
That figure is now approaching the entire debt of our Treasury, as it continues onward and upward. There seems to be
no end in sight.
As you may recall, "...a civil complaint was dismissed against members of the
New Black Panther Party who disrupted a Philadelphia polling place in the November 2008 elections." (As reported
by The Washington Times.) And, as further reported, "The Justice Department on Jan. 12 refused to turn over most
of the information and documents sought by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights..." And by January 25, 2010, "Flagrant
Justice Department stonewalling of numerous outside inquiries concerning the case has deepened the suspicion that high-level
political interference was involved." It was further noted that, "The Justice Department, citing privilege claims,
has refused to release e-mails and other documents sought under an open records request by The Washington Times."
And on and on it goes as further evidence of a collapsing American legal system.
Leading Democrats have now joined the chorus of growing numbers putting notable
pressure on Obama and Holder to keep the terrorist trials out of New York City. The numbers are also rising requesting
that the trials be turned over to the military, as agreed with historic precedence. Even Senator Sessions reports that
he sent numerous letters to the President, to Attorney General Holder and to others, on this issue. No reply was ever
received — not from any of them. But now, finally the pressure has become great enough that it seem they may actually
hold the infamous trials elsewhere. Why has this been so difficult to accomplish. We may never know.
Time Marches On
Feb., 2010. You’ve seen the headlines.
Obama promised a "budget freeze" in his State of The Union speech, and now, following that, he has submitted a whopping 3.8
trillion dollar budget to Congress. It increases the deficit by 1.56 trillion dollars and we now have
8.5 trillion dollars added to our national debt. And all of this has happened over a very short period of time.
Our president never even allowed a decent interval to pass before going once again headlong in the opposite direction from
his promises.
Remember James O’Keefe, the video investigative reporter who showed us the
truth about ACORN? He went to New Orleans to investigate that new "Louisiana Purchase" and the Senator who accepted
the "bribe" and he got himself arrested for his efforts. And, as if that wasn’t bad enough, the lame-stream media
had a field day imagining all sorts of things they wanted everybody to think had happened. We haven’t heard the
end of this one.
Well, it would seem that Obama’s friend, the Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez,
is not nearly as popular in that beleaguered Latin American nation as he seems to be in some quarters in Washington.
Popular protests have taken to the streets in Venezuela. It’s getting quite dramatic. It’s getting
dangerous. It’s definitely no peaceful tea party. (Oh yes, and of course it is being played down in much
of the American media.)
Events seem to show is that our Congress remains dedicated to its usual inept,
irresponsible behavior. Obama has put them to the task of raising our national fiscal credit limit by an additional
2 trillion dollars. Some observers are suggesting that, when considering all relevant figures, we now owe as much as
we take in. And then there is also that new "stimulus" package that the administration wants everyone to refer to as
the "jobs bill." Might the failure of the original "stimulus" package have something to do with a name change? Might
be.
Organizing into action, the tea party movement is moving into "phase 2." We
see this in the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville and in other cities around the nation. It’s part "inspiration"
and part "workshop" to train and to act in effective ways — in ways that can truly make a positive difference.
It has been noted that if you are unable to attend one of these many events or you have and you now want additional information,
support and contacts, you can turn to the page titled: "Something Important To Do Right Now" on the "GettingAmericaBack.org"
web site. We are finding that folks all over America are locating what they need to get started through this particular
web site. The Nelsen Online survey tells us that over 51 million Americans turn to such conservative web sites each
month. More and more every day are making the decision to be a part of the action.
The Obama press conference of 2/9/10 was a bit of a surprise to some folks.
Now and again it almost sounded as though he was beginning to pick up on a number of the ideas previously expressed by leading
Republicans. He also, once again, called for that bipartisanship that, so far, he and his cohorts have been unwilling
to allow. This event has left a number of observers wondering if Obama might be once again running for president.
And now we have had the great blizzard of 2010. The Associated Press headline
reads: "Snow breaks mid-Atlantic record." It has gone down in history as the heaviest snowstorm ever to
hit the capitol in all of our recorded history. People have been stranded, cars have been buried, and Al Gore has turned up
missing.
Obama has now announced what he chooses to call a bi-partisan meeting at the Blair
House in Washington on February 25th. It is our understanding that he wants to use the opportunity to push for as much
of his idea of healthcare as he can and to do so before the TV cameras. This way he can seem to be "open" and bi-partisan,
both for the first time, while getting as much as he feels he can get in the process. But don’t be surprised if it turns
out to be something less than truly non-partisan. It’s always hard for the politicians to change Washington.
It’s much more practical for the voters to do that.
The overseas financial reports are in and it would seem that Greece, Spain, Portugal
and a few other European nations are getting very close to economic collapse. Those nations are in the process of creating
the same sort of economic implosion that the Obama leadership is building toward here in America. It would certainly seem
that this does not bode well for anyone in today’s world.
The left, that likes to be thought of as "kinder and gentler," has been out in
force and kicking up the volume of mean-spirited rhetoric against our more conservative America. From Colbert on Comedy
Central referring to Sarah Palin as "...a f_cking retard," to the "Family Guy" cartoon series with a somewhat more
subtle suggestion about an Alaskan Governor’s offspring, the irresponsible presentations roll on. And they have enlisted
so many, from Rosie O’Donnell to Janeane Garofalo. And they have all managed to obtain preferred placement on
the major "lame-stream" media stage. A very few conservatives haven’t behaved a whole lot better, but some on the left
are making Michael Savage seem like a choir boy in comparison. It is truly a bitter time in our history.
MoneyNews reports, "The euro, already under pressure, came under renewed attack
Monday (2/13) as a French bank speculated that the currency union would inevitably collapse." This in addition to a former
chief economist of the Eastern Central Bank who warned that, "A bailout for member country Greece could damage the euro’s
credibility." MoneyNews further noted that, "At issue are the terms of the pact that created the euro, which
requires its members to maintain an annual budget deficit no higher than 3 percent of GDP and a national debt lower than 60
percent of GDP. Greece is expected to show a 12.5 percent deficit for 2009 and a debt of 72 percent in 2010 and 2011." A
final note: "Other countries with similar debt and deficit problems, notably Spain, Italy, Ireland and Portugal, hang in
the balance." Since these European problems and their causes are so similar to ours, a global fiscal pandemic is
a genuine possibility, and to some, it is a certainty.
Little by little we are beginning to discover just how little we can trust the
facts and figures spoon-fed to us by the current administration. A good example of this growing deception can be found
in a February 15th editorial report published by "The Washington Times." In part, it stated that, "At the same time
the Bureau of Labor Statistics was declaring that the unemployment rate had declined slightly, to 9.7 percent, the government
also was announcing that the economy had lost about 824,000 more jobs during the recession from April 2008 to March 2009 than
Americans previously had been told. If this sounds like bureaucratic doublespeak, it is." The report also
rather bluntly added that, "The government doesn’t really know the exact number of people with or without jobs."
It seems that their figures come primarily from rather questionable survey processes that can easily be skewed in
just about any direction. "The Washington Times" piece concluded with the observation that, "The Obama administration
has focused continually on the establishment survey in making its claims about changes in the jobs numbers, but this data
can be quite misleading. The bottom line is that job losses are likely to be worse than reported, not better." Like
they say, no news may sometimes be good news, but remember that good news can often actually be bad news. And that’s
not good news for any of us.
Knowledgeable observers were expecting it and finally it happened. The "New
York Times" came out with a really big article that did all that it could, with only a little bit of journalistic subtlety,
to tie as much of the Tea Party Movement to questionable "fringe" ideas and groups as they possibly could. It wasn’t
honest. It was a long way from accurate, quality journalism, but that’s what observers have found so much of print
media has morphed into. And what has this attempt managed to do? It has stimulated even greater solidarity between
conservatives, independents and moderates in both major parties. And it has further discredited the already greatly
tarnished American newspaper industry. Perhaps we should thank them for that.
The Associated Press headline reads, "Bayh the latest exit as moderates leave
Congress." The wire service continues with the words of retiring Democratic Senator Evan Bayh, "There’s
‘too much narrow ideology and not enough practical problem-solving’ on Capitol Hill, Bayh said as he announced
his retirement. ‘I do not love Congress.’ " The article also noted that, "Moderates, said Darrell
West, vice president and director of government studies at the Brookings Institution, are ‘going the way of the dinosaur.’
" Senator Evin Bayh joins with Senators Christopher Dodd, Judd Gregg and Byron Dorgan in leaving the political stage,
along with a number of members of the House of Representatives. The list keeps growing — a list that includes
both Democrats and Republicans. The handwriting is on the wall.
On the first anniversary of the infamous "stimulus" package, Obama declares how
successful he feels it has been. This has surprised many since only about 1/3 of the original funds have thus far been
spent, and much of it was spent on all that shameful "pork." And, of course, the unemployment rate rose to a notable
figure, instead of falling as promised. And in some states the rate is even much higher, such as with California at
12½%. And then there are other issues, such as the decaying of the national infrastructure, the debt load, the public
employee pension time bomb, the loss of so much of our manufacturing base, etc., etc. We’re really in great shape
and that stimulus package has sure helped a lot, right?
As we all know, a crazed, angry soul crashed his small plane into a building in
Texas that housed IRS offices. He left behind, written rants and raves about the evils of free enterprise with praises
for the idea of Communism. Wouldn’t you know it — the "lame-stream" media in America did all that it could
to invent and suggest supposed associations with conservatives, any folks on the right of center, and even elements they chose
to associate with the Tea Party movement. In other words, they tried their best to turn it all in the opposite direction.
Even the "Washington Post" got into the act through a February 18th comment about the pilot with, "His alienation
is similar to that we’re hearing from the extreme elements of the Tea Party movement." Much of American print
media must think we are all very, very stupid.
You may have read (or seen) the news about the dissolving of the exposed and often
charged ACORN organization. What is not generally known is the disquieting fact that the break-up will actually be into
smaller and more regional chunks all around the nation. And the various pieces will be under many different names.
All the harder to track what they are really doing, right? That seems to be the idea.
We are all aware of Obama’s new promise of an open and bi-partisan meeting,
to try and develop some sort of compromise with the healthcare issues. So, what happens? Obama announces and then
releases his own sparsely detailed version of what he wants done, just a few days before the meeting. And it is being
described in alarming ways — such as being a trillion dollar plan with medicare cutbacks and new taxes. So why
did he invite the Republicans to the meeting? Some would like to suggest that it’s because he wants to show his openness
to cooperation. Don’t bet on it.
MoneyNews gives us some interesting breaking news with the following: "Charles
Munger, Warren Buffett’s longtime business partner in Berkshire Hathaway, warns that the U.S. economic empire is crumbling
before our eyes, thanks to federal debt and poor planning." It is a frightening situation, to be sure. More
and more concerned citizens are putting whatever assets they can into gold and silver and anything else they hope will retain
some value. And more and more folks have decided to plant their own vegetable gardens this spring.
Research investigators on the staff of the Fox news channel have unearthed a number
of authentic and very revealing videos wherein Obama expresses his extensive involvement with, and his enthusiastic support
for, the greatly discredited and criminally charged ACORN organization. A number of these videos were then subsequently
played on-air so the public could see exactly what kind of a President we really have. (Let there be no doubt —
the videos are real.)
As the month nears to an end, the Associated Press headline tells us,
"Rising jobless claims reflect weakening recovery." And the story reveals that, "Layoffs are no longer dropping as
they were in the final months of last year, reinforcing fears that the jobs crisis will weigh down consumer spending and the
economic rebound." Also off are "...big-ticket manufactured goods..." and "Earlier in the week, [ it was
announced that] new home sales fell in January to their lowest pace on record. And consumer confidence plunged in February."
AP further reports that, "Mark Vitner, senior economist at Wells Fargo, said the weak reports point to an economy struggling
to wean itself from government stimulus programs such as homebuyer tax credits and other supports."
The Obama meeting with leaders of both parties finally occurs at The Blair House
and there were no surprises. Since Obama had pre-conditioned the meet-up with his prepared version and his determination
not to start over to "do it right," the presentation of the Republicans had no chance whatsoever. The excellent introductory
statement from Senator Lamar Alexander was met with indifference. The market oriented approach, the tax cuts, the tort
reform, cost control, an open interstate market, the incremental approach, and all the other Republican ideas were either
ignored or swept aside. The Democrats made it perfectly clear that their massive and expensive central plan with big
government control was all that they were willing to actually consider. And dishonest "facts" and figures didn’t
help any either. By way of example, the President tried to convince his audience that healthcare rates would not increase
— this in spite of the Congressional Budget Office’s statements to the contrary. The event was more of a
cruel joke than a serious effort to address the differences and solve the problems. (These are the reviews of reasonable
and accurate observers.)
It was announced that a coalition of atheist groups has been granted a Presidential
audience at the White House. It was also observed that this was done in sharp contrast to an earlier coalition of Christians
which was refused such an opportunity by the President. This fact, along with so many other unflattering revelations,
was not widely reported (as usual) but it was reported on the Hannity Show on February 26th.
A few brave media mavens have had the audacity to suggest recently that although
there have been some examples of corruption and other disappointing behavior among Republican politicians, the major impetus
for such behavior has clearly been among the Democratic politicians. The list is long and includes such powerful politicians
as Eliot Spitzer, Chris Dodd, William Jefferson, Charles Rangel, and David Paterson. If you’ve got the time, go
ahead and fill in the many others out there.
The Year Marches On
March, 2010. The U.S. Treasury Department
report for the fiscal year of 2009 has been released. It tells us that our nation is now $11.46 trillion in the red.
This is 12.3% higher than the figure for the fiscal year of 2008. And we also now know that the government "Fannie Mae" mortgage
giant lost 16 billion more in this last quarter. No matter what Barney Frank tries to tell us, we are in very deep trouble.
Some folks still find it hard to believe that the much discredited ACORN
organization, with the criminal indictments and video exposés, is actually the same group that President Obama was such an
integral part of and was so supportive of. Transcripts, sound recordings and videos offer clear confirmation. Obama’s
comments have included such statements as, "I’ve been fighting with ACORN, alongside ACORN on issues you care about
my entire career ... and I definitely welcome ACORN’s input. You don’t have to ask me about that.
I’m going to call you even if you didn’t ask me." Enough said.
Obama may have felt he had to apologize for perceived wrongs of America,
as the records show, but who’s going to apologize to America for Obama’s broken promises — among them, for
packing his administration with over 30 former lobbyists, and for as many as 9,000 earmarks (pork) in legislation they’ve
passed — both of which he promised to not allow to happen? And we might also want to make note of the fact that
we now know that Eric Holder has recently brought nine lawyers on board at the Justice Department who have "ties" to known
terrorists. (A compilation of strong viewpoints and observations recently expressed.)
Obama has once again presented yet another slightly revised health plan
— this time with a few "token" Republican ideas included. As some are saying, it was done to try and make a very
bad brew seem less bitter. And if that can’t be rammed through, we understand he will demand that Congress uses
what Obama likes to call his, "up or down vote" (the 50 plus one concept). We recall an interview with Obama back in
2007 when the majority was in Republican hands. At that time he said, "You’ve got to break out of what I call,
sort of, the 50 plus one pattern of presidential politics. Maybe you eke out a victory of 50 plus one, then you can’t
govern." So it’s different when the shoe is on the other foot? Evidently.
Well, it was announced that the official unemployment remains at a high
9.7% and Harry Reid got before the cameras and proclaimed it as a good day in America because only 36,000 more people lost
their jobs this last month (only?). And the more accurate figure, when you include the large number that have given
up looking for work altogether and the other statistical numbers conveniently omitted, the more accurate figure is much closer
to20%. Chalk it up as one more inconvenient truth.
Obama has been caught lip-syncing one of his recent health care speeches.
He evidently missed his cue and got thrown off. At first the White House reaction was one of denial. Finally,
they decided to tell the truth, after the video exposure made it obvious. The White House finally ended up admitting
that the president not only depends on his prepared material fed to him by his teleprompter, he often does a sip-sync presentation
from a pre-recording. Many are asking, is there nothing original and spontaneous with this man? Beneath the haze of one Congressman’s personal problems, small parts of the hard Obama inner core
come to light, as the now-ex Representative Eric Massa tells us in a "WKPQ" radio interview on March 7th: "When I
voted against the cap and trade bill, the phone rang and it was the chief of staff to the president of the United States of
America, Rahm Emanuel, and he started swearing at me in terms and words that I hadn’t heard since that crossing the
line ceremony on the USS New Jersey in 1983." Interesting, yes?
When a conservative writer or a conservative politician or a conservative
broadcast host makes a questionable "racist" gaffe (such as a "watermelon" association with the president) we all know exactly
how the lame-stream media runs with it. Oh, but the "Obama/watermelon" remark was made by Dan Rather, a well known heavy-duty
liberal. Was what followed, just the calm before the storm? No — as you might suspect, there was no storm.
Of course not.
Some of the latest bits and pieces filtering in to us include Obama’s
federal judicial appointment of far-left Berkeley professor, Goodwin Liu, a man who indicates his strong predisposition for
judicial legislation (in sharp contrast to our Constitutional mandates). On another front, administration efforts also
move forward with an even greater inclusion of the "progressive" agenda in the public schools. And as this occurs we
are once again reminded that, "Those who control the curriculum in America control the future of America." Another day —
another moment of national decomposition.
Ever wonder how one goes about stealing an election? Document and comment
leaks now reveal that there are those within the current Washington power structure who are planning and implementing steps
to do exactly that. The procedures include "Universal Voter Registration" based on welfare rolls, DMV records, tax returns,
unemployment lists, etc. The many problems of duplications, easy forgeries and other "mistakes" can be expected to open
up some illegal alien and felon voting fraud, where the preference leans heavily in the direction of the Democratic party.
Other forces being marshaled to their cause include groups with seriously questionable registration and voting "irregularities,"
such as "SEIU" and with the many new community groups being formed from the old "ACORN" organization. And remember,
those on the left are often quick to admit they will do whatever it takes.
"They don’t even want to debate this issue. We’ll probably have to wait until the Republicans take back the majority
to fix this." A statement made by Bart Stupak about the healthcare bill and abortion funding in "The National Review"
(3/12/10). Newsmax is reporting on a new prestigious Rasmussen report
(a national survey) that finds 57% of the voters believe that this current Democratic healthcare plan will hurt the U.S. economy.
Of course most Democrats continue to support the plan, while Republicans and voters not affiliated with either party strongly
oppose it. (Just 24% of surveyed voters think the quality of healthcare will be better if the plan is passed.)
It was also discovered that 76% of those with insurance, rate their coverage as good or excellent and that most voters would
rather see Congress scrap the original plan and start over. But, as of now, the majority of Democratic politicians,
and their leadership, seem uninterested in what the people clearly want and don’t want.
Representative Jack Kingston told NewsMax Magazine, that the Democratic
leadership is applying "incredible pressure" on House Democrats to pass the Obama-care reform bill. As Rep. Kingston
noted, "...there are all kinds of backroom deals going on, lots of arm-twisting." And he also noted that, "...this
is a highly partisan, very organized minority that has thrust upon the majority of the American people something that they
don’t want." And why don’t they want it? Many reasons come to mind, among them the fact that the
main healthcare "benefits" won’t kick in until 2014, but the new, related taxation will begin almost immediately. Also
the fact that Medicare will be cut. And there are so many other reasons, a number of which have been previously
posted here. And let it also be remembered that the majority of current medical denials for care, procedures and medications
are not because of decisions by the insurance companies — it’s the government Medicare system that
is issuing the denials. Something to think about. Physicians were surveyed by
"The New England Journal of Medicine." They were asked what they would do if the Obama
healthcare plan passes into law, and they were asked what they thought of it. It was found that 46.3% of the doctors
surveyed indicated they may leave the medical profession if it passes. And it was found that 63% of the doctors surveyed
indicated that they felt reform should be more gradual. And it was found that 72% of the doctors surveyed indicated
that they felt that any public option would be a definite negative.
As reported by the "Washington Post," the Democratic leadership has become
desperate to try just about anything to get their enormous, unread healthcare bill passed. However, as reported, they
"...ran into vociferous resistance from Republican lawmakers, who blasted a potential maneuver that would allow the House
to approve the Senate’s version of President Obama’s signature domestic initiative without actually voting on
it." This infamous process has been given many names — the "Slaughter Rule," the "self-executing" or "deeming"
rule, and more recently, among growing numbers of Americans, the "#*@#!" rule.
Countless thousands came to Washington on the fateful weekend, in concert
with millions of phone calls, e-mails and faxes to the Democratic members of the House. It did no good. That monster
of a healthcare bill finally passed on what was referred to as "black Sunday" (3/21/10). Some say it is the beginning
of the end of our Republic as we have known it. But most seem determined to fight harder than ever, all the way to November
and beyond. What will happen? Only time will tell.
Obama signs the giant, convoluted healthcare bill and the IRS starts to
prepare itself as the enforcement arm. And, little by little, America is discovering some of the many other uncomfortable
facts, such as the fact that the bill includes a government take-over of all student loans throughout the nation. Now
the government will decide who will and will not be able to finance a college education. As you might imagine, there
are many other rude awakenings waiting in the wings.
The counterattack against the controversial healthcare legislation
has begun. It’s starting with 14 state Attorney Generals joining in a serious Constitutional challenge and also with
a rededication of countless numbers of Americans across the nation who have vowed to "throw out the rascals" in November who
voted for the bill. Others are trying, as best they can, to try and figure out what we’ve now got to deal with.
Some web sites that might help: http://Thomas.loc.gov and http://www.kff.org .
We hope you didn’t miss the various reports on the many examples
of very wasteful current government spending, such as shown on Hannity’s Fox News list which includes such interesting
items as: The protection of a Michigan insect collection from other insects ($187,632). Highway fish art
in the state of Washington ($10,000). A university study of female college coed "hookup" behavior ($219,000).
Extensive upgrading of a seldom-used river cruise boat in Oklahoma ($1.8 million). A Florida university study about
whether mice become disoriented when they consume alcohol ($8,408). Foreign bus wheel polishers for California ($259,000).
Recovering lost crab pots off the coast of Oregon ($700,000). For the development in Illinois of a program to create
machine-generated humor ($712,882). A government grant to Maine Indian basket makers for an arts apprenticeship, gathering
and festival program ($30,000). A study in Maryland of methamphetamine and the female rat sex drive. ($30,000).
The hiring of a director in California for a study of genetic control of sensory hair cell membrane channels in Zebrafish
($327,337). And Oregon Federal building’s "green" renovation at nearly the cost of a new building ($133 million).
Giving six woodlands water taxis a new home in Texas ($750,000). And for a North Carolina study of social networks like
Facebook ($498,000).
More on the government waste report includes: Taxpayer money to retrofit
light switches with motion sensors for one company in Arizona ($800,000). Government rehabilitation for a privately-owned
steakhouse restaurant space in Missouri ($75,000). The outfitting of vessels of a cruise boat company in Illinois with
surveillance systems ($1 million). For the producing and transporting of peanuts and peanut butter in North Carolina
($900,000). Refinishing and delivering picnic tables in Iowa ($30,000). Elevating and relocating 3,000 feet of
track for the Napa Valley Wine Train in California ($54 million). For the hosting of Earth Day events, the Summer Solstice
and other similar activities in Minnesota ($50,000). For "socially conscious" puppet shows for Minnesota’s "Che
Guevara" theater ($25,000). Federal funding of a Missouri bridge project that is already fully funded by the state ($8
million). Federal funding for California student studies of African voting habits ($200,000). Researching air
pollution in association with high-fat diets and obesity in Ohio ($225,000). Funding of a Pennsylvania study of fossils
in Argentina (over $1 million). For a study of the impact of global warming on wildflowers in a Colorado ghost town ($500,000).
For the removal of overgrown weeds in a Rhode Island park ($250,000).
And still more examples of the waste includes: Our paying for the renovation
of 5 seldom-used ports of entry on the U.S.-Canadian border in the state of Montana ($77 million). For testing how to
control private home appliances from an off-site computer in a Massachusetts community ($800,000). Funding of Florida beauty
school tuitions ($2.3 million). For the extension of a bike path to a Minnesota stadium ($500,000). For the beautification
of Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles ($1.1 million). Taxpayer money for the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival ($10,000). For
the development of next generation supersonic corporate jets in Maryland ($4.7 million). For new spring training facilities
for the privately owned Arizona Diamondback team ($30 million). For free WiFi systems, Internet kiosks, and interactive
history programs in 2 Texas rest stops (13.8 million). For the next generation of football gloves in Pennsylvania ($150,000).
For a pedestrian bridge to nowhere in West Virginia ($80,000). Unneeded bike and pedestrian paths from Camden, NJ to
Philadelphia ($23 million). Taxpayer funds for road signs in Ohio touting "stimulus" finding ($1 million). Researching
how paying attention improves performance of difficult tasks in Connecticut ($850,000).
Not had enough? Then here are a few more examples of your money squandered
by the new federal regime: Using your money to replace "dumbwaiters" in New York ($351,807). Funds to Arizona universities
to examine the division of labor in ant colonies ($950,000). For a "clown" theatrical production in Pennsylvania ($25,000).
The resurfacing of a tennis court in Montana ($50,000). For a story telling festival in Utah ($15,000). For door
mats for the Army in Texas ($14,675). Solar panels for a climbing gym in the mountainous state of Colorado ($157,800).
And there is even a grant for a Massachusetts university for the development of little "robot" bees ($2 million). And,
as if that isn’t enough, there are even places like a Maryland town that got funding but has absolutely no idea what
to do with it ($25,000). And why did I give you such an enormous list? Liberal detractors have been inclined to
say that folks like us only give one or two examples and that it’s really mostly money well spent. Well, now you
can see it’s not, and these are only a fraction of the almost unbelievably large number of wasteful examples
that could be listed. We trust this message has gotten through loud and clear.
"Insiders" have warned that Tea Party organizers need to be on the lookout
for radical-left implants that might be successful in acting out various forms of violent behavior that some media propagandists
would love to give the impression as being associated with the Conservative movement. Organizers have been alert to this problem,
but some attempts at this sort of deception outside of the core Tea Party activities are almost impossible to monitor or control.
Now we hear about a few examples of vandalism and threats and similar incidents that have been staged against various
complaining liberals in Congress. It is hoped that at least a couple of these individuals will be clearly identified
so we can see that it is a rare, irresponsible individual who considers himself to be on the "right" — but that most
of these acts might actually be a sham that is meant to help discredit all who might have a responsible Conservative
viewpoint and behavior. It should also be remembered that violent acts have occurred around the country and left-wing
pundits have been quick to try and tie such behavior to the "right," until the actual "left" connections were discovered.
This, of course, was then immediately followed by the usual vast silence. And then there have been such incidents as
that "nut" on the "left" who made what was described as a serious threat on the life of the Republican minority leader of
the House. There were headlines about some bad language allegations and related incidents near the steps of Congress,
but where were the headlines about the threat against the life of a Republican leader by an avowed left-winger?
The dishonesty in American journalism is rampant.
Some of the "fallout" is starting to come down as the result of the healthcare
program that has just passed. As reported by the Associated Press, Verizon and nine other major companies sent a letter
to leaders in Congress warning that their "...costs would increase with the healthcare changes." It was also
reported that many big name companies, like John Deere, AK Steel, Caterpillar and even the giant AT&T, indicated the new
healthcare system raises their expenses significantly for which steps will most likely have to be taken. Also, there
seems to be a notable increase in doctor retirements and you can expect many other unpleasant events yet to come.
Obama and his cohorts in Congress realize that they probably have only
a few more months of running rough shod over the public will, so they are moving quickly toward the next phases in their "transformation"
of America. We understand this will include a fast-track to amnesty and citizenship for millions who are here illegally
(to increase voter ranks for the Democrats) and a strong push toward voter rights for convicted felons (another good voter
block for the Democrats). Is it the beginning of the end of the two-party system? I guess we’ll find out,
won’t we?
The last Saturday of this month was a great time for many folks from Nevada
and for others who came to join the party as well. It wasn’t much of a happy time for Harry Reid however.
That’s because the event was a huge national kick-off affair for the now famous Tea Party Express, headed around the
nation for a third tour. This is part of a major effort to vote Senator Reid out of office, along with so many other
like him that a lot of folks feel don’t listen to the people any longer. And this particular tour started in Reid’s
hometown of Searchlight, Nevada. Thanks to Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber and so many others, it was considered to be
a great beginning.
More Nails In The Coffin
April, 2010. A small improvement
has been reported by the Obama regime in the unemployment rate for this last month. Of course what is not being said is that
the largest block of new jobs are with basic, temporary positions for the census. Some historians also suggest that
there were similar small, temporary gains following the "crash of 1929" (which was later followed by the full-scale depression).
Welcome to the future?
No matter what the White House says and no matter how much the numbers
are juggled, we are still deeply mired in serious economic difficulties. As even noted by the New York Times, "The
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is bracing for a new wave of bank failures that could cost the agency many billions
of dollars and further strain its finances." As reported to the Times by the F.D.I.C. chairwoman, Sheila Blair, "About
140 banks failed in 2009, and Ms. Bair said she expected even more than that to go under this year." So much for
the good times.
A new Washington Post poll has a few interesting things to say about our
new government healthcare program. The poll has revealed that, "Those who say they are outright angry almost universally
believe that the country is going in the wrong direction — some say toward an America they no longer recognize."
And a new "Opinion Dynamics" poll reported by Fox News asked, "Is it possible for our nation’s economy to collapse?"
79% said "Yes, it could happen." 18% said "No, it never could." So, what is worrying people? Perhaps it
includes such things as the enormous debt that will be dropped in the lap of the states for their forced share in the new
government medical system. And perhaps it is the massive medicare cuts to the senior program that is already broke.
And perhaps it is the substantial state and federal tax increases that will be necessary. And perhaps it is any number
of other good reasons as well (and there are so many). Take your pick.
We have heard about a minor Kenya official who is claimed to be greatly
miffed for not being included in special "financial considerations" for keeping quiet about a very particular birth record.
And then we saw what looked like an authentic Kenyan birth record (along with accompanying supporting documentation), and,
just recently, this writer actually saw a very clear video of Michelle Obama saying, at a DNC Convention (Aug., 2008) that:
"When we took our trip to Africa and visited his home country in Kenya, we took a public HIV test." I cannot
vouch for the first two examples, but I am a living witness to this third example. Along with others, I am beginning
to feel that a reasonable, professional investigation might be warranted. I don’t know what the final truth
might turn out to be, but I am inclined to feel that it is not unreasonable to ask for a more comprehensive probe.
The Accuracy in Media group (AIM) offers a considerable amount of "overlooked"
information that doesn’t often get even a passing mention in most of our mass-media sources. Among the missing:
The "AIM" group has clearly shown that, in many ways, "The Obama administration is working with Al-Jazeera."
It is an Arabic news source that caters to the Islamic radicals. A current report from "AIM" notes that, "Charges
of bias were vindicated when the top U.S. journalist at Al-Jazeera English, Dave Marash, left the channel and said that anti-American
bias was a factor in his decision to leave." The "AIM" group further noted that, "Al-Jazeera not only covered
but helped sponsor the August 2008 birthday of Samir Kuntar, a released terrorist who had smashed the head of a four-year-old
girl with his rifle butt in 1979 after killing her father before her eyes." It was reported that, "Al-Jazeera
elevated Kuntar to heroic heights with orchestras, fireworks and sword dances, presenting him to 50 million viewers as Arab
society’s role model." Obama’s Al Jazeera "cooperation" is only one example, of course. Another
example is how Obama’s cohorts are planning to change or remove many common descriptions, such as with their efforts
to eliminate the term "Islamic radicalism." If it can no longer be described, does the problem go away?
Now we understand Obama has decided that even if we will be attacked by
a dangerous, hostile foreign power, using devastating biological agents, chemical weapons, electro-magnetic bursts or any
other horrendous weaponry in these classes, we will not be answering with a nuclear response, with almost no exception. Voices
of alarm have been raised saying that this policy invites a devastating attack on our nation. Let us hope that those
who are willing to accept this outcome, don’t end up finding out first hand.
The public records show that, "A Republican activist and her boyfriend were savagely beaten in New Orleans on Friday (April
9th) for wearing Sarah Palin pins." (As reported by "Free Republic.") As also noted in a "Gateway" report,
it was a brutal attack with serious injuries, "Including a broken leg, jaw and a concussion." And, as usual,
the vast majority of the general media was completely silent about the incident. After all, it wasn’t a perceived
negative response from a Tea Party supporter, which would have made a major story for them.
Recently, Douglas Elmendorf, the director of the Congressional Budget Office
released the following statement: "U.S. fiscal policy is unsustainable, and unsustainable to an extent that it can’t
be solved through minor changes — It’s a matter of arithmetic." Well, the "economic bubble" hasn’t
burst just yet, but it cannot help but do so eventually, unless Congress can be changed and the massive funding be stopped
and reversed. That’s a good part of the thinking on this issue at this time.
Additional details are seeping out of the massive, new government healthcare
system. Of course we all have no choice but to get particular healthcare insurance that is deemed acceptable by the
federal government. But, in addition to that, the states are being forced to significantly increase the taxes on the
citizens of their states and spend that money, as directed by the federal government, in specific areas of the new healthcare
operations. And we are hearing about the creation of what amounts to a "healthcare army" which is evidently supposed
to include states’ National Guard units and the IRS with the recruitment of 16,000 new agents. It would seem that
our new "big brother" will be armed and ready.
According to the Associated Press, Obama has actually admitted, during
a 47-nation Nuclear Security Summit that, "The risk of nuclear attack — not by an enemy nation, but from terrorists
— is on the rise...". And, in Obama’s own words, "The rise of a nuclear attack has gone up."
However, there was not a word in his speech about the two most serious nuclear threats in the world today, Iran and North
Korea. And not one single move was made to address that major issue — the most important international security
issue of them all.
Commanders Neil Armstrong, James Lovell nad Eugene Cernan have released
an open letter of severe criticism of Barack Obama for his cancellation of the NASA moon program and other programs in the
current American space operations. It was noted as "devastating" to our nation’s space efforts. Obama has done
his best to make it seem that he is doing just the opposite of what more and more scientists and citizens see actually happening.
See a special "paper" on this controversy, and see the full open letter, on the web site: http://Astrophysics21.Tripod.com .
From a book signing by Karl Rove in Beverly Hills, to an event with Sara
Palin in Mesa, Arizona, conservatives run into disrupting, threatening and sometimes very dangerous behavior from left-wing
types. This, of course, is seldom even noticed by most of our American media. However, even unproven, unfriendly
comments supposedly made by one or two tea party members brings out headlines and dramatic consternation from the lame-stream
media. This unprofessional behavior has become so obvious to most folks that only hard-core ideologues and other mentally-challenged
types remain oblivious to such lop-sided reporting. The Obamacare backlash continues.
Many reasons can be found, including the revelation that $500 billion is being diverted over the next 10 years, out of Medicare
and out of the Medicare Advantage plans. (As reported by The Wall Street Journal — April 22, 2010.) And
as the revelations manifest themselves, doctors opt out of the system or "retire." Also, legal challenges head to the
courts, including a case being advanced by The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. And while all of this
is going on, "Democrats, led by Rep. Harry Waxman of California, chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, are gearing
up to ‘shoot’ any messenger who dares speak ill of Obamacare — and the first target is American business."
(As reported in The Washington Times — April 12, 2010.)
Did you know that nonpartisan elections in Kinston, NC have been outlawed?
That’s right. Our Obama Justice Department has made that move because they feel the dominant black voters
in that town evidently are perceived as not having enough sense to make up their own minds without the need of a Democrat
party label to direct them. A wonderful example of "race-based politics," isn’t it? Welcome to the new America.
ACORN has now gone underground. They’ve finally broken up into
a number of differently named groups all over America. They evidently hope this will help them to hide their true identity.
And what is their true identity? Berth Lewis, the National Director of ACORN put it best. She said, "Any group
that says, ‘I’m young, I’m Democratic, and I’m a socialist,’ is alright with me."
(She was speaking at a national conference for the Young Democratic Socialists in New York City — March 7, 2010.)
The left must be worried because they seem to be trying just about every
trick and every deception that they can come up with. This includes Obama’s Cass Sunstein, who has been encouraging
fake web sites and other imitations in efforts to divert or smear the genuine grass roots efforts. This even includes
the creation of imitation candidates and separate independent political parties for the purpose of splitting and diverting
the conservative, independent and tea party voters in such states as Nevada and Florida. Of course they’re counting
on support for and silence about what they’re doing from most of the media.
As tax day (April 15th) came and went, we saw more peaceful, friendly,
but determined Tea Party events all over America. And, once again, it was not racist, not violent and no longer silent.
And there were other events, of course, like a left-leaning group in front of the White House that was an embarrassment for
Obama. So, what was done about that? The police forcefully herded the media away from the event to squelch coverage.
However, negative coverage has been encouraged for the media coverage of Tea Party activities. Democrat lawmakers and left-leaning
media have been quick to jump on even the slightest suggestion of unfriendly comments or any racial possibilities from the
Tea Partiers. And what about that strange little group that decided to assemble in a Virginia park, with rifles on their
backs? The main-left media did try to somehow associate them with the Tea Parties. The conservative response was
summed up quite well by Darla Dawald, the National Director of ResistNet.com, who said, "I spent most of my time on the
road convincing CNN and other news outlets we aren’t violent, then those protesters show up carrying guns. Stupid!!"
And, of course, there was not any association with Tea Party activities. Are you listening, main-stream media?
Remember the big government "Fannie Mae" and "Freddie Mac" mortgage debacle
that burst our real estate bubble and brought down our economy? Once again, "Taxpayers are on the hook for about
$400 billion, partly because Senator Obama helped to block reform." (These figures: From the Congressional Budget
Office. This story: From the pages of The Wall Street Journal — April 20, 2010.) We also remember the former
Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan’s testimony about Fannie and Freddie playing, "...a critical role in fostering
an explosion of growth in the subprime-mortgage market that led to the global financial crisis." (As reported by
The Washington Times.)
For those still not convinced that our new government is gradually taking
over just about everything it can get its hands on — you should know that the federal government now controls approx.
90% of the entire housing financial system. It also now controls 100% of the student loan system. And don’t
kid yourself, it has the primary control of the American healthcare system. And it’s now going after Wall Street.
In fact, the new Wall Street regulations and controls being assembled by Obama and his cohorts have very little restriction
on irresponsible behavior and represents far more a guarantee of the continuance of the "too big to fail" bail-out policies.
And all of this, forming up as an integral part of our government’s control of just about everything.
The government control efforts continue with the effort to establish what
they call a "National Broadband Plan." This is an FCC effort to regulate (control) land-line broadband Internet service
and beyond. And, at the same time, Google discloses that numerous government requests have been made to remove content
from its search engine, YouTube, blogger services, and from other Internet activities. And, of course, the FCC continues
to push for what it likes to refer to as "Net Neutrality Guidelines." And plans continue to control or shut down conservative
talk radio. The Nazi censors would be proud.
Meanwhile, with regard to the American and world economy, the Washington
Post reports that, "Historic levels of government debt in the developed world could throw the global financial system back
into crisis and clear plans are needed to bring it under control, the International Monetary Fund said Tuesday (April 20,
2010)." And, on that same date, a Wall Street Journal headline reads, "Greek Debt Crisis Seen Getting Worse."
And, three days later, that same publication reports that, "The ‘euro’ fell, hitting an 11-month low against
the dollar as concern over the Greek debt crisis once again roiled markets." And the next day, "Recovery in U.K.
Seen Losing Pace." And at home, Obama and his gang continue the mounting debt.
Violence seems to be growing everywhere, from the southern border with
Mexico, to the growing massive "gang" violence in Chicago (where two Illinois state legislators are calling for National Guard
protection), and to Arizona, where illegal immigrants and their supporters demonstrate, sometimes violently. All of
this grows, in stark contrast to the peaceful Tea Party events. Too bad so much of today’s American media choose
not to report this contrast of behavior and identify its political roots. Too bad.
The Coming Summer of Discontent
May, 2010. The new "economic philosophy"
in America that is causing us so much trouble, is a reprise of the old European system — a system that has been causing
so much trouble overseas. Some of the headlines read: "Europe debt crisis spreads to Portugal" (MSNBC), "Greece’s
Debt Crisis Poses a Risk to ECB Balance Sheet" (Washington Times), "Crisis Spreads in Europe" (Wall Street Journal),
"Greece Stokes a Selloff Across Europe" (Wall Street Journal), "Debt Package to Aid Euro, But Only Briefly" (Wall
Street Journal). Will our leaders learn from this? Many don’t think so.
The Washington Times has now detailed "Obama’s Goldman Sachs connection."
Investigative journalist Scott Wheeler and political strategist Buckley Carlson researched and wrote the report. (Don’t
hold your breath waiting for the lame-stream media to pick up on this.) On sometimes related issues: The New York
Times has reported, "California, New York and other states are showing many of the same signs of debt overload that recently
took Greece to the brink." And while Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve Chairman, urges cuts in our deficit, the Chairman
of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Sheila Blair, indicated her concern that a particular Senate plan of extensive
new curbs on bank trading would impair our financial stability. (As reported by The Wall Street Journal.) And
so what does Obama suggest? The Associated Press reports that Obama suggests that a "value-added" tax should be considered.
In other words, we certainly can’t control the out-of-control spending. We’ve got to consider some
serious taxation on the general population — something he promised he wouldn’t do, of course.
Arizona has been inundated with lawlessness. Phoenix has even won the dubious
title as the number two kidnaping capitol of the world. (Yes, things are that serious.) So, since our federal
government has been unwilling to offer the level of assistance that is so desperately needed to help control the primarily
illegal immigrant cause of most of this problem, the state enacted a new state law that basically duplicates an appropriate
existing federal law — one that was needed but was not being properly enforced — which contains no "racial profiling"
and is actually a very fair defense of law and order. But that’s not what was reported in much of the press, nor by
self-proclaimed leftist Hispanic spokesmen and others of that ilk. And, of course, San Francisco is now boycotting Arizona
over the issue. So, one good answer to this just might be a public resolution to boycott San Francisco. (See the
"Important Announcements & Public Releases" page of the "GettingAmericaBack.org" web site for full details.)
We all remember the recent fiasco when the Democratic Caucus was parading
down the steps outside of the Cannon Office Building. It was during the push for Obamacare, and Democrat representatives
were passing by Tea Party protesters. That was when Rep. Andre Carson claims he heard demonstrators shouting the "n-word"
15 times. None of the many dozens of camera and audio recorders ever caught so much as one time when such words were
used. The producer, Andrew Breitbart, realized the deception and offered $100,000 to anyone who could offer a video
that could establish that the word was ever used. And now, Mr. Breitbart has received new video proof that shows no
such utterances were ever made. With all the media attention that was given to the original charge, do you not wonder
about the shameful silence about the refutation? We wonder but we’re not surprised. In the early part of this month, four or five kids at the Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, California,
went to school as usual but they were wearing T-shirts that happened to have American flags shown on them, or on bandannas
that some wore. However, the vice principal demanded that they immediately take off the T-shirts or turn them inside
out and remove the bandannas, or they would face suspension. The kids wouldn’t comply and had to go home.
The boys were quite upset. Since it was "Cinco de Mayo" (the 5th of May), other kids were allowed to display the
Mexican flag, on their clothing and in any other way. That’s the way it’s becoming in America, especially
in the American Southwest, but thankfully, others had a cool head on the issue and the order was rescinded. And this
sort of thing is happening elsewhere, such as a teacher at Santa Rita School, also in California, who considered a girl’s
drawing of an American flag "offensive." What’s happening in your kids’ schools?
Now we have seen, once again, how the "left," this time accompanied by
the illegal aliens and their "friends," do their demonstrations. We hear them shout about "racial profiling" and our
becoming like "Nazi Germany." Never mind that the facts about the new Arizona law are completely opposite of their claims,
they know how they want you to see it. And we have also seen that their rants are sometimes accompanied by violence.
We wonder if the time will ever come when the majority of the media will decide to report such things accurately and fully.
Maybe when a certain well known area freezes over?
We remember when George Bush took a couple of days before federal assistance
began to kick in, because of everything from a Louisiana governor who held back the aid, to looters shooting at responders
who tried to help after Hurricane Katrina. Bush was pounded by the Democrats and their press for what was declared as
an extremely late response. It was a merciless attack. Remember that? Well, now the Obama regime took well
over a week to respond to the explosion and major oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and even after that, didn’t have
the equipment available that is critical for containment and eradication. Of course the controlled segment of the press
had little to no criticism of Obama over this issue. They also were totally silent about the fact that the overseeing
federal agency that is supposed to be responsible for offshore drilling safety issues, the "Minerals Management Service,"
has been inclined to leave such oversights to the oil drillers themselves. And there have been so many unresolved problems
with that particular rig. It’s massive failures from beginning to end, but let’s not ever say anything bad
about Obama or his administration, right?
As unemployment rises to 9.9%, we see more small businesses facing failure
and more cities and states on the brink of economic collapse. An example, as reported by the Wall Street Journal: "Los
Angeles on the Brink of Bankruptcy." And, as suggested by this writer, we seem to be continuing to set ourselves up for
a mutually assured economic collapse. So, what is Obama going to do? He’s going to help bail out Greece, through
the IMF. How nice,....for them.
They bragged that they were going to take over and that’s exactly
what they are doing. Even though a federal appeals court has recently ruled that the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) does not have the authority to regulate the Internet, "...the Obama administration chose to ‘reclassify’
the Internet so it can regulate the Web anyway." (As reported by The Wall Street Journal.) "FCC Chairman
Julius Genachowski did their dirty work this week by announcing that he plans to reclassify broadband lines so his agency
can regulate them under rules that were written for Ma Bell in the 1930s." (See the Journal for more details.)
So now our new government takes over yet another segment of our nation. It is considered by many to be the beginning
of a political take-over of all public information sources that have an inclination to offer alternative viewpoints.
We are told to expect a similar push in the direction of talk radio in the near future. Welcome to the new America. The Wall Street Journal headlines and sub-heads tell it all. "The EU’s bailout
postpones the day of fiscal reckoning," and "Yen Recedes, Euro Wobbles After Rescue," and "Euro Drops as Investors
Think Again on Bailout," and "Italy’s Stagnant Growth Makes Debt Burden Heavier." And what has all
of that to do with us? Obama’s policies are certainly a major factor in the sinking of our boat but foreign fiscal
and political instability can be seen as an important factor as well. So, what can one do personally, to protect our
individual futures? Reducing personal debt to the minimum, putting in a vegetable garden, and investing discretionary funds
in precious metals — these are some of the things that come to mind. As reported by Jeff Opdyke in the WSJ, "Concerns
over resurgent inflation and debased currencies are mounting as the U.S. and Euro zone flood the world with dollars and euros
— and that means prices for commodities such as gold and oil could continue to surge." Now what is your
personal plan?
As Dennis Prager writes, "What the Left did to California it can do
to nation." Does it matter? Well, as Mr. Prager noted, "California has the worst credit rating in the nation."
And the state has the fourth highest unemployment rate in the nation (even higher than Michigan), and has the second highest
rate for home foreclosures, and its job growth rate is approx. 20% below the national average. And one could go on and
on about the state government being practically in bankruptcy, and about the illegal alien burden and all the rest.
Not so? Don’t you believe that. I’m telling you this from first hand experience. It’s the state
in which I try to live.
Politicians all over America are looking for solutions to our many states’
and federal financial woes, and as usual, they are most often looking in all the wrong places. Some are looking to the
establishment or the expansion of gambling casinos (without consideration for the hardships this brings to many). Others are
playing with the idea of legalizing pot (without consideration for the frightening medical findings that are coming to light).
After all, they don’t want to cut back on their spending orgies when they might be able to tap into some new tax revenues
— to hell with what it does to the people, right?
We see our economic chaos and we wonder, who did this to us? We might consider
what was recently reported in The Washington Times. "For years, the Federal Reserve, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae caused
banks to make high-risk mortgages to borrowers who couldn’t afford them. Two weeks ago, in testimony before the
Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, former longtime Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan finally pinpointed who instigated
this risky behavior: Congress." That’s right, as the editorial headline reads: "Congress responsible for
financial collapse." And yes, that’s the same Congress (through the Senate) that rejected the Republican attempt
to at least temporarily ban "earmarks" (the corrupt pork spending). And that’s the same Congress, along with the
rest of the Obama regime, that is planning financial reforms that will put heavy credit restrictions on American small business.
And, as reported in The Wall Street Journal: "Expect unemployment to stay high." And, in the meantime, how have the
rest of us been doing? The Washington Times headline tells us that, "Personal income falls 3.2 percent since Obama."
These are things to remember when you talk to your friends and neighbors about the coming election in November, don’t
you think?
Many in our current federal administration are not at all happy with folks
like Glenn Beck (Fox News commentator). I wonder why. Might it possibly be because he brings to light statement
like the one made by one of Obama’s groupies, Maurice Strong (in a Dec., 1992 interview)? It went like this: "What
if a small group of these world leaders were to conclude that the principle risk to the earth comes from the actions of the
rich countries? ... In order to save the planet, the group decides: Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the
industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?" Might that
help to explain why things are going the way they are? Might be.
The Washington Post tells us that the government’s Fannie Mae mortgage
giant has admitted, "...that it cannot imagine a day when it would turn a profit, as the firm announced an $11.5 billion
loss and said it would request $8.4 billion from taxpayers to stay afloat." Not important? You can bet your
last penny that it is. Fannie Mae now controls 96% of all of our mortgages here in America, and you may recall what
happened the last time they went belly-up, right?
And the bad news continues. Bank failures in America for this year
have risen to 72, so far. Our government is getting involved with auto brakes, financing and everything else they can
get their hands on. As WSJ says, "Be very afraid." The Wall Street Journal also tells us that, "Obama
Trade Goals Face Doubts" and notes that, "Businesses say they have seen few results since the unveiling of the push to double
exports." And the Commerce Department announced the rise of the U.S. trade deficit to $40.4 billion in the month of March.
And the Congressional Budget Office director, Doug Elmendorf, has had to reveal that $115 billion must be added to the cost
of the new health care system — the first of many expected to come. And the American Power Act (the disguised Cap and
Trade) is expected to produce a massive inflation. And City Group economist, William Butler tells us that, "The public
finances in the majority of advanced industrial countries are in a worse state today than at any time since the industrial
revolution." So what does Congress do about all of this? Some of them bet on the fall of our stock market
through exchange-traded funds. Nice bunch, aren’t they?
The organized opposition to the new Arizona illegal alien law has burst
out, very loud and sometimes violently. It is accompanied by various city councils, special interest groups and opportunistic
regional and national politicians — all pounding away at poor little Arizona for doing something they actually didn’t
do. Arizona’s crime has risen dramatically, with the influx of the Hispanic drug gangs and other lawless elements
from south of our border. And the latest official figures show that illegal aliens are costing the somewhat financially
depressed state of Arizona approx. $2.7 billion a year. So what did the state have the audacity to do? It passed
a law that mirrors a federal law that is seldom being enforced. It involves fully identifying individuals already involved
in a criminal investigation and is even more careful about not having any racial profiling
than as required in the federal law. But that’s not what they are all shouting about, is it? Suddenly Arizona
has somehow become almost a police state, reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the eyes of some, and they’re all rushing to
condemn, boycott, or otherwise do whatever other damage they can do to the state. Even Obama has put his negative contribution
into the mix. And the U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder declared it will lead to racial profiling, even though (like
almost everyone else) he has admitted he never actually read the bill. The same is true for Janet Napolitano, who also
didn’t read the bill (which is only a little more than a dozen pages). And one of Obama’s far-left zealots
in the State Department recently decided to mention the new Arizona law to Chinese officials, as an example of a human rights
problem here in America. It’s absolutely amazing. The big lie just keeps getting bigger and bigger and hardly
a word gets out in the more controlled media about the real truth. And of course you never saw the demonstrators’
signs, such as, "Give us free health care, jobs, no taxes house, food. You owe us, America!," and "We will shoot more
police in Arizona until we get free!" Now that’s what’s really happening. I’ve seen the pictures
and I’ve talked with witnesses. It’s the truth you’ve never been told.
And now we come to Obama’s second appointment to the U.S. Supreme
Court. Obama’s comments during her public introduction are somewhat disturbing. As noted by The Wall Street Journal,
"...by volunteering his nominee’s personal opinion on free speech and campaign finance law, the President has created
a double standard on his nominee’s confirmation candor. If Mr. Obama wants Americans to know what Ms. Kagan thinks
about campaign finance, then why shouldn’t we also know about her legal passion on abortion, or the commerce Clause,
or whether U.S. citizens arrested on U.S. soil can be declared enemy combatants? Surely Senators don’t have a
right to know what Ms. Kagan believes only on matters of law in which her views score well in opinion polls." As also
noted, from her own words in a 1995 book review in the Chicago Law Review, "When the Senate ceases to engage nominees in
meaningful discussion of legal issues, the confirmation process takes on an air of vacuity and farce, and the Senate becomes
incapable of either properly evaluating nominees or appropriately educating the public." (Now we’ll have to
see how she actually behaves.) So what else do we know about her? We know that, through her, Obama wants to reshape
the court into his vision of a "progressive" institution. She is certainly a part of the judicial left, which her writings
suggest, as in an article in the 2001 Harvard Law Review where she wrote that a powerful Presidential control over government
agencies represents a "mechanism to achieve progressive goals." We should also consider The Washington Post’s
comment that, "In nominating Kagan to replace retiring Justice John Paul Stevens, Obama is breaking with tradition. Every
other member of the court is a former federal appeals court judge, and Kagan has never served in the judiciary."
And how do the more vocal Hispanics (the radicals) feel about things these days? We remember
the videos at the beginning of their public protests — with all that anger and violence and the flurry of Mexican national
flags. Now what are they saying? Here are some of the more recent verified quotes: Augustin Cebada, of the Brown
Berets says, "Go back to Boston! Go back to Plymouth Rock, Pilgrims! Get out! We are the future.
You are old and tire. Go on. We have beaten you. Leave like beaten rats, you old white people. It
is your duty to die." Richard Alajorre, of the Los Angeles City Council says, "They’re afraid we’re
going to take over the governmental institutions and other institutions. They’re right We will take them
over. We are here to stay." Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, of the University of Texas says, "We have
an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. The explosion is in our population.
I love it." Marioi Obledo, of the Calif. Coalition of Hispanic Organizations says, "California
is going to be an Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn’t like it should leave." Is this the beginning of
the end? You tell me.
Remember the huge negative media reaction to Bush when that hurricane hit New Orleans and it took
our government a few days to work around the then-governor’s negative response to aid and to get through the fire-fight
from looters? We’ve mentioned this before, but now, after almost a month of poor federal responses and the disclosure
of failed federal oversight of the off-shore drilling safety (a fed. responsibility), about the only thing we have heard from
most of the press is similar to The New York Times lukewarm response: "The federal government ... had opportunities
to move more quickly, but did not do so while it waited for a resolution to the spreading spill from BP." So much
for any sort of equal treatment of our presidents.
The sad details are seeping through the liberal media’s iron curtain. We are beginning
to discover how harshly other nations (including Mexico) treat those who enter their countries illegally. And we are
finding out how oppressively expensive it is to the American taxpayers to give the illegals all those services for free that
you and I have to pay for. And we are coming to realize that the danger to us all is far greater than we had realized,
from the criminal element within the Mexican invasion of the Southwestern United States. It would seem we are learning
an important lesson the only way we seem to be able to learn it — the hard way.
Our Attorney General Eric Holder has shown us how he withdraws from further investigation and prosecution
of the Black Panthers who were filmed intimidating voters at a poling place during the last Presidential Election. Then
he showed us that he was quick with scathing comments about that new Arizona law he somehow never managed to read (as he admitted).
And now, under House Judiciary Committee questioning, he will not refer to radical Islam as possibly a motivating influence
behind a number of terrorist attacks and attempted attacks upon our nation. Clearly it is one more major problem with
an Obama appointee. And his positions most certainly brings current rule of law in America under a very serious cloud.
As reported by The Washington Times: "The Senate voted yesterday (5/17/10) to allow illegal
aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment — even if the job was obtained through forged
or stolen documents." As Senator John Ensign stated in disgust, "There was a felony they were committing, and
now they can’t be prosecuted." It is an amazing turn of events. It would seem that Obama’s new
party agenda is to be considered as superior to the concept of law and order in America.
Sometimes I wonder if there is something in the water. Now the very weird San Francisco city
government wants to set things up so that non-citizens in their city can vote, just like the legal citizens do. I’m
sure they must know what our Constitution says about things like that. I can only imagine that it’s some sort of mental
aberration. Perhaps it’s a manifestation of the condition sometimes referred to as "Secular Progressivism."
I can only hope it’s treatable.
In the wake of a Texas revision of its textbooks, which has revealed a previous "rewriting of history,"
other problems in American schools are continuing to come to light. There are the various patriotic displays in posters,
in wearing apparel, and with flags — all of which we are seeing banned in various schools, even as the symbols of other
nations are allowed to remain. Some of these irresponsibilities were reversed — others were not. That any
are allowed to occur at all is most disquieting. The problem continues.
The Washington Times, The New York Post, Fox News and The Wall Street Journal offered authentic details
about how nobody in the federal government seemed to be in charge with regard to the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
It was shown how Obama completely dropped the ball in this dire emergency, and eventually even Obama finally admitted
it. So, does the rest of the national media pick up on this, as it did so enthusiastically with Bush’s Katrina
problem? You know the answer to that.
First Obama says that "nothing inappropriate" was done by his administration with regard to the Rep.
Joe Sestak offer, and then the next day (under pressure even from some Democrats) it was found to be necessary to admit otherwise.
As reported by The Wall Street Journal: "The White House said Friday (5/28/10) that it tapped former President Bill
Clinton last year to nudge Democratic Rep. Joe Sestak out of Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate primary contest." And,
for those who may not recall (as with some in the ruling party), it was also noted that, "Mr. Sestak has said since February
that he was offered a high-level job in exchange for dropping his challenge to Sen. Arlen Specter, which Mr. Sestak ended
up winning." We are told that there is a very specific law against doing this sort of thing. One wonders
just how Attorney General Eric Holder plans to get around this one.
European financial irresponsibilities offer dire WSJ headlines. "Euro Plummets To Four-Year
Low," and "Euro’s Fall Leaves Beijing Unmoved," and "A Rising Tide of Skepticism Threatens the Euro."
These economic problems are mirrored in America with similar financial irresponsibilities. (One would think they were in a
heated competition for failure.) The Journal headlines read: "Fixing Fannie, Freddie Is a Political Hot Potato,"
and "Slowdown Fear Hits Market," and "Jobless Claims Jump, But Trend Is Unclear," and "Disabled Face
Hard Choices As States Slash Medicaid," and "Bank contagion Spreads to Northwest," and "New York Is Almost
Out of Cash," and "Dow’s Worst May Since ‘40." (See The Wall Street Journal for the details.)
The handwriting is on the wall.
It is not only government that is contributing to the decay of the fiscal landscape. Corporate
management and big unions have joined the deconstruction process. Some companies are beginning to come to the conclusion
that it’s more "cost efficient" to pay health insurance fines to the government than to continue with any sort of employer-sponsored
insurance. And public worker’s unions have made "deals" with politicians to apply coverages and pensions that can only
bankrupt our nation. And, as if that isn’t enough, Obama’s EPA has announced the imposition of ruinous new
rules regarding "greenhouse gases" that will impact 15,000 businesses by the summer of this next year. Don’t be
surprised with what probably will happen to us all.
The battle continues as Arizona’s attempts to defend itself from a serious invasion from Mexico
— an invasion that is lawless and sometimes violent. Most of America rallies behind the defenders and their new
state law, which does not allow racial profiling or any other inappropriate conduct from law enforcement. Other
states also began to consider similar protective measures, so anti-Arizona demonstrations were orchestrated, accompanied by
intimidating rhetoric and some violence as well. And all of this, in spite of such inconvenient facts like federal
laws which sport real restrictive control over suspected illegal aliens. Things like this were ignored by the
detractors, as was also such Washington Post headlines as, "Illegal immigrants gravitate toward Arizona border,"
and "Mexican pirates attack Texas fishermen on Falcon Lake, which straddles border." And then there was Mexican
President Calderon who lectured our American Congress about how awful Arizona’s law was supposed to be. (Democrat politicians
stood and applauded him.) There was no mention by him about Mexico’s really oppressive alien laws.
Through all of this, observers were wondering just what Obama and his left-leaning cohorts thought they might get from all
of this boisterous deception. Most seem to feel it is but a preliminary for an unconscionable amnesty plan that could
provide millions of new Democrat voters. But the public response in favor of Arizona and the growing pressure from the
few who actually read the Arizona law and from the growing problems of the invasion — from all of these things, Obama
finally realized he would have to do something. So he ordered a token number of National Guard troops to the Arizona
border (to do paper work and such). And meanwhile, the illegals and their left-wing supporters pushed even harder with
protests in Phoenix over the Memorial Day weekend. (And yes, there were enthusiastic rallies in support of Arizona,
although you might have had some trouble finding out about that, in the lame-stream media.)
Oil On Troubled Waters
June, 2010. As you can see by so
many of the troubling events that have been unfolding throughout this current time in our history, we find ourselves living
in an era of disastrous political irresponsibilities with what we find offers little to no accountability whatsoever. Many
of the biggest names in the current leadership, stand as shameful examples of this malady. If one will take the time
to carefully enumerate the many examples of this, one will quickly realize that this has become an unfortunate period of considerable
breakdowns in the process of law and order. It is a time that will take courage and determination for us to work our
way through and come out on the other side to a better place for us all.
The oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is getting more severe with every passing
day. And from original prevention to the catastrophic end result, our current national government has been a jumble
of confusion, followed by statements of confidence and resolve, followed by even further ineptitudes. An accurate and detailed
report on this situation can be found in the "GettingAmericaBack.org" web site, on the page titled: "The Obama Oil Disaster."
Check out the well-oiled presidency for yourself.
The endless misdirection and corruption continues unabated. Investigator James
O’Keefe went to work, undercover, with the Census Bureau and quickly discovered everything from fraudulent time cards
to an estimation of waste, loss and fraud in the amount of hundreds of millions of dollars or more. And we see what
Don Bauder describes as happening: "Banks and companies commit massive fraud at will." And the Washington Times
reports that, "Workers run up federal credit cards without penalty." As Citizens Against Government Waste reports
on others, "These are law-enforcement officers who are engaged in outright theft." And on and on it goes.
Chicago politics seems to be moving ever forward, in spite of the law and the presumption
of honorable behavior in general. It is not just Pennsylvania Democratic Representative Joe Sestak’s repeated
claims of administration offers of a "job" if he will drop his bid for a Senate seat, it is also that Blagojevich thing and
now Romanoff as well. With regard to Romanoff, the Washington Times reported that the White House actually confirmed, "...Deputy
Chief of Staff Jim Messina had talked with former Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff about taking a job in the administration."
And what was that all about? Mr. Romanoff has released e-mails that show he was presented with at least three job offers,
if he would not run for a specific political office. It is our understanding that all of these things are in direct
violation of very specific federal laws. The question is, will any of this really matter, with our federal law enforcement
under the control of the current administration? We’ll see.
Certain elements in the media and in the administration don’t want you to
take notice of the fact that many states are interested, in positive ways, in Arizona’s new immigration law. They would
also rather you didn’t know that a majority of Californian’s support more get-tough tactics (USC poll).
And please don’t pay any attention to the CNN poll that concludes, "Public support for beefing up security along
the U.S. border with Mexico and deporting all illegal immigrants has grown significantly." And then there are such
events as the Yorba Linda City Council (in California) becoming the first city in Orange County to endorse the Arizona
immigration law. There are those who most definitely don’t want you to ever consider such pesky realities.
I wonder why.
Governor Brewer of Arizona has not been having it all that easy of late, as you
might imagine. Unidentified motor coaches have been unloading intimidating demonstrators at her home. It shouldn’t
actually be too surprising. That’s the way the "left" likes to do business. But of course she is hanging
in there and has finally even managed to get an "audience" with Obama. (No doubt a little PR for the president, after
such a long time of completely ignoring the governor’s many requests for help.) It never did generate much for
the beleaguered state and it couldn’t possibly make up for the embarrassment of Assistant Secretary of State Michael
Posner, apologizing to China for what he referred to as an Arizona law that is evidence of human rights failures in America.
Nothing will ever make that right.
As if there isn’t enough to frighten the daylights out of most Americans
these days, we have a Media Research Center announcement that, "The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued a 47–page
bureaucratic plan for the ‘Reinvention of Journalism’ that outlines a series of taxes that would stifle free speech
and silence conservatives." The Media Research Center has revealed that the FTC paper includes: "A ‘Drudge
Tax’ on news aggregators like The Drudge Report who stand on the front lines of the struggle to expose the leftist agenda."
It also includes, "A ‘journalism division’ of AmeriCorps — forcing taxpayers to pay the Obama Administration
to train up the next generation of liberal journalists." And it contains, "A direct Journalism Bailout fund to
help pay the salary of every journalist. — You and I will be forced to fund the liberal media." And it goes on and
on like that. This is all so incredible it seems like some sort of fiction. It couldn’t be real, right?
Unfortunately for us all, it is very real. This writer has an exact copy of this full 47-page policy draft. This
is clearly the direction of their thinking. Many of us were wondering when and in what form it would take to begin to
move us in the direction of restriction and subsidy, to limit criticism of the current administration and to bail out the
financially strapped liberal elements in American media. Now we know.
The president gives a speech from the Oval Office about the oil spill in the
Gulf of Mexico and we hear a story that seems to have little to no connection to what we know has actually happened and has
not happened. The rest — promises of what will be done from here on out. We can only hope that, for once,
it will be the beginning of real change. And let us hope it will not be at the cost of our economy and our freedom.
Only time will tell.
After its loss of taxpayer funding, due to its criminal exposure, ACORN has not
really disbanded so much as it has "regrouped." And now, under at least 16 new names, the infamous organization is setting
up for business all over the country and once again doing its best to obtain more taxpayer money. Will that happen?
Let us remember that ACORN was the group that Obama had been involved with early in his career and it was one of his major
supporters in his presidential campaign. (Thank you, Anna Dewey and the V.I.P. Women’s Group for keeping us up-to-date
on this.)
The Obama administration has begun its attempt to "control" as much of the public
dissension with regard to the Obama policies as it can, starting with publications, broadcasting and now even with the Internet.
And it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the White House. As reported by The Wall Street Journal, "A federal appeals
court ruled last month (4/10) that the Federal Communications Commission lacks the authority to regulate the Internet."
But, as further reported, Obama’s people are reclassifying the Internet so it can do it anyway. "FCC Chairman
Julius Genachowski did their dirty work this week by announcing that he plans to reclassify broadband lines so his agency
can regulate them under rules that were written for Ma Bell in the 1930's. This means subjecting the Internet to new
political supervision from the federal government." What does all this really mean? It is a classic
move that can be expected from any government leadership anywhere, that is moving in the direction of a dictatorial format.
Jim Fitzgerald, writer for the Associated Press reports from Port Chester, New
York, that "Although the village of about 30,000 residents is nearly half Hispanic, no Latino has ever been elected to
any of the six (village) seats." So, evidently Judge Stephen Robinson believes all Latino voters and at least a
few white voters are not willing to make his preferred racial choice. He has set up, "...a system called cumulative
voting, in which residents get six votes each." The judge is evidently hoping that this new method will be primarily
taken advantage of by his chosen racial group. No more "one man, one vote?" Evidently not.
And now what is this we are beginning to hear about Obama shutting down oil rigs
in the Gulf of Mexico that may be sent to Brazil? It is a country we have loaned billions of our dollars to, to do deep
water drilling in their area, from what we understand. And Obama’s biggest political financier is George
Soros, who just happens to have an extensive investment in that particular Brazilian oil enterprise. Why are we not
surprised?
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer sent urgent letters of request to the White House for
help with the violent, illegal invasion from Mexico. She also made phone calls and sent e-mails. She never even received
the slightest acknowledgment. Then, after great public pressure, the president finally meets with her in Washington.
It was a tense meeting, to be sure, but he did promise to get back to her on the issues of federal assistance within two weeks.
Then, two weeks to the day, the only response that was ever received was a statement made by Ms. Clinton (from a Latin-American
country) that the federal government would sue Arizona over its immigration law. If this is the help for the state that
Obama was thinking of, then God help Arizona.
The Washington Post headlined the comment that, "Experts see how-not-to book,
emerging from Gulf oil spill cleanup." And further: "Since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded April 20, outsiders watching
the cleanup say, the federal government and BP have made key mistakes that delayed or distracted the effort to stop the spill."
And then the article detailed mishap after mishap. Finally some of the "other" media is beginning to report at least
a little of what is actually going on — finally.
Senator John Kyl had a closed-door meeting with Obama. In a video interview following
the meeting, Senator Kyl said, "I met with the President in the Oval Office, just the two of us. The President said, ‘The
problem is, if we secure the border, then you-all won’t have any reason to support comprehensive immigration reform.’
In other words, they are holding it hostage." Naturally the White House issued a denial. I guess, as far as they
are concerned, this conversation never happened. Sure. (Thanks to ResistNet.com, this video was made and can be
viewed on their web site at this time.)
Many have seen the video wherein Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis made it clear that
those who are in our country illegally and working, should be given appropriate wages. Many see this as a first step
toward an amnesty that puts lawbreakers in a very special, preferred "residency arrangement" leading to citizenship. Some
feel the statement was a very definite violation of our labor laws. Evidently, just one more example of lawlessness
at the top.
We all remember the left-media outcry when General Stanley A. McChrystal’s
staff was featured in a "Rolling Stone" article titled, "The Runaway General." It was the usual sort of hatchet job
by that magazine, which even managed an indirect quote or two featuring the general himself. Naturally it was edited
in the direction that showed a notable degree of disrespect for the Obama crowd. What else would you expect? And,
of course the thin-skinned president hit the roof. And of course an excellent general for the job in Afghanistan was
"fired" by Obama. Another day, another nail.
The president continues to move forward in what many are calling a frightening
transformation of America. He continues his push for greater control of all segments of American life. He continues
to promote his spending binge. And, at the same time, the "President targets military for pay cuts." (Newsmax
Magazine). And, as the public mood grows more angry with every passing day, Congress begins to balk at least a little
bit — no doubt in consideration of the coming November election.
Little by little, the truth is getting out. More people are reading "The Obama
Oil Disaster" report (even though most of the media remains silent about the failed Obama responsibilities revealed therein).
But the revelations continue. As the Wall Street Journal has reported, "BP, PLC and other big oil companies based
their plans for responding to a big oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico on U.S. government projections that gave very low odds
of oil hitting shore, even in the case of a spill much larger than the current one." And of course the current administration
continues to blame everyone but themselves.
The Blagojevich boondoggle goes on and on. As the Wall Street Journal reported,
"An ex-aide to former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich testified this week that President Barack Obama knew Mr. Blagojevich
wanted a plum White House job in exchange for appointing a politically palatable person to fill Mr. Obama’s vacated
Senate seat." As the ex-aide, John Harris said in testimony: "The president understands that the governor would
be willing to make the appointment of Valerie Jarrett as long as he gets what he’s asked for." It is our understanding
that the president is implicated in a number of other ways as well. Will he be called to testify? Probably not.
Will he be held accountable? Of course not.
The echos of the breakdown of law and order in America continue to reverberate
throughout our national system. The latest: Department of Justice attorney J. Christian Adams has resigned over
the Obama/Holder refusal to prosecute the armed Black Panthers who were filmed as they intimidated voters at a polling place
during Obama’s presidential election in 2008. It was also further charged that there is a policy in place to not
prosecute any cases where blacks are the perpetrators and whites are the victims. Does anyone care? We would like to
think so.
You may have seen the video of Congressman Pete Stark on the Internet or on the
Fox news network. It was another one of those eye-openers where we have an elected politician at a town hall meeting
(this time in Fremont, California) alternating between declaring that "Our borders are quite secure," and grossly insulting
the citizens assembled there to share their concerns, in a polite and courteous manner. As we all know, this isn’t
the first time this sort of thing has happened, but hopefully after the November election, it will be the last time (or so
it has been expressed).
We seem to be getting closer and closer to D-Day ("D" for Depression). As
the Wall Street Journal headlines suggest, "Recession Strikes Deep Into Work Force," and "Fear of a Stall Hits Market,"
and "U.S. Financial Index Starts Flashing Red." (Follow the Journal for ongoing details.) Articles, headlines
and serious reports show decrepitude in other segments as well. Among them, we are told that new government controls
suggest we may be seeing the beginning of the end of "community banking." And The Washington Post reports that, "The
recession has directly hit more than half of the nation’s working adults, pushing them into unemployment, pay cuts,
reduced hours at work or part-time jobs, according to a new Pew Research Center survey." And of course there is much more
— too much more.
With all of the negative economic facts piling up, one would think Congress would
begin to reconsider its direction. Not going to happen. As Grassfire Nation reports, "National Review notes
that the bill (the ‘Dodd-Frank Act’) is aptly named after two of the leading causes of the financial crisis that
precipitated the legislation — noting that Frank led the push to extend home ownership to (quoting Frank) ‘people
who might not on their own in a market situation be able to afford it’ and rejected warnings of a housing market collapse.
Dodd called Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ‘one of the great success stories of all time’ — a ‘success’
that has cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars." And what is this new "act" of theirs? It’s
an over 2,000 page government takeover of a major segment of the American economy. And what about cap-and-trade?
As the Washington Examiner reports, "More than half a million jobs could be lost by 2015 if Congress approves the cap-and-trade
portion of the Kerry/Lieberman anti-global warming bill, according to an independent analysis by the Institute for Energy
Research." And far more jobs are estimated to be lost by 2050. These and other possible laws can guarantee
the end of the road of economic prosperity for America. It is hard to imagine why they would do such a thing.
Is it some form of national suicide? Who knows.
At this point, the only thing that this writer can say, is that with all of the
fiscally destructive activity emanating from Washington, if there is not a decisive reversal in the political arena, our nation
is going to continue into a serious decline. And what’s to happen if this sort of thing does continue? We are
already seeing a serious deflationary trend in the real estate market. It can then be expected to spread throughout the rest
of our economy. And then, an eventual reversal that will include a devastating cash inflation that can do us all in.
A lot to look forward to, right?
It’s amazing. Even though the new Arizona illegal immigration law offers
far greater civil rights protection than the similar federal law it emulates, special interest protesters (sometimes violent)
and pandering politicians have been quick to shout their approved big lie and threaten and boycott the poor state of Arizona.
As reported by Newsmax magazine, "Those threats haven’t kept lawmakers in North Carolina, Maryland, Colorado,
Missouri, Ohio, and several other states from considering similar laws." As it turns out, "Nearly a dozen states
are following Arizona’s lead by considering tough new laws against illegal immigration." And polls continue
to show a majority support for the new law, not only in Arizona, but throughout the nation. We seem to be in a period
of our history when, among vocal radicals and media hacks, up is down, night is day, and whatever else will suit their purpose.
But reasonable Americans everywhere are not buying it.
I’m thinking that possibly a certain place of ill repute may be starting
to freeze over and possibly even sighting will be reported of pigs flying. Finally, after 72 days, Obama has decided
that perhaps it might not be such a bad idea after all to accept some of the help that quite a number of foreign nations have
offered, following that infamous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Many thought it would never happen, like the unlikely
freeze or aeronautically inclined pigs. I guess if we wait a really long time, just about anything can happen.
